How to Prevent Ingrown Hairs

If you want to prevent ingrown hair’s, you’re in the right place! In medical terms, ingrown hair’s are known as Pseudofolliculitis Barbae. They can be so painful and look terrible, therefore, it is so important you look for ways to prevent and get rid of them.

When shaved hair gets trapped inside the follicle wall or grow back into your skin, it results in ingrown hair. Ingrown hair can cause swelling, redness and even scarring. So, you need to know some simple ways to prevent ingrown hairs.

Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is used in many different dermatological applications. It can easily clear pores, exfoliate and moisturize your skin. So, it is very useful in preventing ingrown hairs and infection. After you have shaved, you should use a
post-shave product containing Salicylic acid.

It is important to use a non-acnegenic shaving cream. Such effective creams are designed for women’s sensitive and soft skin. These creams even contain lubcricating agents. On the other hand, foam-based creams can be the primary cause for dryness and irritation in your skin. You should never use a product with alcohol. Such products can worsen the condition of ingrown hair by closing your pores and drying your skin.

Improve the Surface of Your Skin

Basically, there are two ways to improve the surface of your skin. When we talk about prevention of ingrown hairs for women, these two ways play a crucial role.

Exfoliating your skin is essentially important to avoid ingrown hair. It is better to use a gentle scrub on a daily basis. It should ideally have Salicylic acid and Glycolic.

You should also use a liquid cleaner and a very soft-bristle brush. You need to move it in circular motion over the hair on your legs. This can help you clear follicles while removing dead skin cells.

Use Proper Shaving Technique

One of the main causes for ingrown hair in women is shaving too closely. When hair stubs are cut too closely, they tend to get trapped inside your hair follicle and dig sideways or inward. A slight shadow appearance on your leg will be better than unsightly and painful ingrown hair! It is also worth mentioning that you should not pull the skin while shaving or waxing your legs and not to put too much pressure on your blade.
